June 2025

The music festival Jazzové lázně (Jazz Spa) celebrates its 24th edition and will once again turn Mariánské Lázně, Czech Republic, into a hub of jazz activity.

From 20th – 26th June 2025, the spa town will resonate with jazz in all its forms — featuring legends like Czech jazz pianist Emil Viklický, the innovative duo Zabelov Group and the Libor Šmoldas Organ Trio.

On Friday 20th June, the festival kicks off at 8:00 PM in the courtyard of the Chopin House with a concert by the local band led by Dan Suchý, offering energetic renditions of blues-rock classics. Admission is voluntary, and all proceeds will go toward saving the Forest Mill (Lesní mlýn) — a beloved historical venue that once hosted the festival. The traditional colonnade concerts will take place daily at 3:00 PM, right after the Singing Fountain performance.

On Saturday 21st June, the colonnade will host the Zabelov Group, a duo blending accordion, drums, electronics and vocal experimentation. This concert on the Magnesia Stage is held in collaboration with the literary festival Knižní lázně (“Book Spa”).

The Knižní lázně is a gathering of small publishers and booksellers with readers in the heart of the beautiful town of Mariánské Lázně. It showcases current book production worth following, promotes reading, and offers numerous inspiring events for both children and adults, such as author readings, discussions, creative workshops, meetings with authors, children’s competitions, musical concerts, and more. One of the main themes the Book Spa focuses on is mental health and well-being. The festival organizes a Reading Retreat, which provides selected participants from the general public with a free spa stay, a residency program for writers, and a Summer Writing School for aspiring authors.

Sunday 22nd June will bring the audience back to the golden era of jazz with The Dixie Hot Licks from Plzeň, recreating the spirit of the 1920s in true New Orleans dixieland style.

On Monday 23rd June, one of the Czech Republic’s top jazz guitarists, Libor Šmoldas, will perform on the colonnade with his Organ Trio, fusing jazz, blues and ‘60s funk with the unmistakable sound of the legendary Hammond B3 organ.

On Tuesday 24th June, at 7:30 PM, the courtyard of the Chopin House will come alive with the Swing Melody Orchestra — a professional big band dedicated to the authentic interpretation of 1930s and 1940s swing.

On Wednesday 25th June, the festival continues at 3:00 PM with a colonnade concert by Jazz Cakes, a band mixing jazz standards with original arrangements of well-known hits.

The festival finale will take place on Thursday 26th June at 7:30 PM in the concert hall of the Chopin House, featuring a performance by jazz legend Emil Viklický and clarinetist Pavel Hrubý. Their project Between Us is an intimate dialogue between piano and bass clarinet, blending jazz with classical music and Moravian folk traditions.

Tickets and Practical Info: All colonnade concerts are free with voluntary admission. Tickets for concerts at the Chopin House (except the opening night) are 350 CZK and can be purchased at the Mariánské Lázně Info Centre or online via the events calendar at www.marianskelazne.cz.

The festival is supported by the City of Mariánské Lázně and the Karlovy Vary Region.
