Welcome to The Great Spa Towns of Europe
The Great Spa Towns of Europe is a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprising eleven famous historic spa towns across seven countries. It was inscribed on the World Heritage List on the 24th July 2021.
The component towns, in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom, together form one ‘property’, which represents a unique cultural phenomenon which reached its height in the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as a particular urban type and form.
The site’s Outstanding Universal Values reflect the cultural and natural significance of a property, which is so exceptional as to transcend national boundaries and to be of common importance for present and future generations of all humanity.
As a World Heritage Site, it has been given global recognition as a phenomenon which helped to shape Europe.
