Discover something new every day

Bad Ems is located in the heart of a nature park in a beautiful, unspoilt landscape.  The Middle Rhine Valley, one of the most beautiful cultural landscapes in Germany and the epitome of romance with its numerous castles and palaces, is very close by.  It is also home to one of Germany's most famous wine-growing regions.

Excursion destinations for culture lovers

There are plenty of attractive excursions all around Bad Ems.  The confluence of the Lahn, Rhine and Moselle rivers is a real tourist hotspot.  Impressive castles and palaces, spectacular gorges, Germany's longest suspension rope bridge and volcanic landscapes with the highest cold water geyser in the world are fascinating.  A true classic is, of course, the river tours through the UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley, past the world-famous Loreley.

Taste Germany's number one wine-producing region

Rhineland-Palatinate, where Bad Ems is situated, is Germany's number one wine-producing region. Around 70 percent of all German wine is produced here.  It is also home to a rich cultural life of fine cuisine.  In addition to the famous wines from Rhine or Moselle, there are also real rarities such as the Lahn wine, which has been cultivated for centuries in a small neighbouring village of Bad Ems.

Hiking between romantic valleys and the refreshing Lahn

You can choose from a romantic walk to an adventurous hike through a gorge.  Walk and stroll along the river Lahn, following the famous Lahn hiking trail to experience the views from the heights, or even climb up on enchanted paths.  On the way up, you will move through dense mixed forests with its very own flora and fauna, experiencing wild nature.  The premium trail, HöhenLuft (HighAir), has been awarded a prize by the German Hiking Institute and lives up to its name.

Water sports – fun and relaxing on the river

The water of the river Lahn is a place of rest and activity all in one.  The river is our natural heart and invites young and old to relax, romp and play on, on and in it - just as you like it.  Just sit and watch the ducks and birds or cast your fishing rod.  The gentle Lahn provides soothing peace and quiet.  This is also true for those who paddle relaxed over the water, whether together in a canoe or solo on a stand-up paddle board.  If you want to be a captain, you can tour the river with a houseboat.

Cycling pleasures in the middle of a nature park

Whether you're out and about with your family, on a racing bike over the heights or pedalling along the romantic river-side, in Bad Ems you can experience whatever you feel like on two wheels.  Our visitors' absolute favourite is the Lahn cycling path, which has received several awards from the German hiking association and is probably one of the most beautiful long-distance cycle paths in Germany.  High above Bad Ems, a mountain bike flow trail makes the hearts of all bikers beat faster!
